As a side-event of its Chairmanship of the ASEAN, the Philippines organized a High-Level Regional Conference on Open Government on August 14-15, 2017. One of the Conference highlights is the Regional Roundtable Discussion (RTD) on Open Government, where success stories and challenges in implementing open government reforms were be discussed.

Towards Transparency’s Executive Director Nguyen Thi Kieu Vien has been invited to participate in the roundtable, which welcomed some 300 participants from the national government agencies, civil society organizations, business groups, international development partners and media. On this occasion, TT shared some perspectives on where Vietnam stands in terms of good governance and open government reforms.

The Philippines is one of the founding members of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), a unique international initiative aimed at securing concrete commitments from governments to promote transparency, increase civic participation, fight corruption, and harness new technologies that strengthen governance.
